Villarsia violifolia F.Muell.
- von Mueller, F. 1868. Fragmenta Phytographiae Australiae. v. 6 p. 136-142.
Humilis, stolonifera, glabra, foliis parvis cordato- v. ovato-orbicularibus membraneis longe petiolatis vix repandulis ad radicem et caulis nodum paucis fasciculatis, pedunculis scapisve uni- v. bi- v. paucifloris, pedicellis gracilibus calyce aliquoties longioribus, calycis laciniis semilanceolatis acuminatis, corollae luteae lobis ecristatis margine nudis, fundo parce fimbriato, antheris cordato-ovatis, stylo perbrevi, stigmatibus ovalibus, capsula ovata sursum tenui-cartilaginea recurvo-valvata calyce superata oligosperma, seminibus majusculis e fulvo sordide nigro-fuscis laevissimis lucidis compressiuscule ovatis immarginatis, strophiola basali fere cupulari. Low, stoloniferous, glabrous. Leaves small, cordate- or ovate-orbicular, membranaceous, longly petiolate, scarcely repand, a few bundled at the root and node of the stem. Peduncle or scape one- or two- or few-flowered. Pedicels slender, occasionally longer than the calyx. Calyx lobes semilanceolate, acuminate. Corolla lobes yellow, without a median wing, bare at the margin; throat sparingly fimbriate. Anthers cordate-ovate. Style quite short. Stigmas oval. Capsule few-seeded, ovate, thin-cartilagenous higher up, with recurved valves, surpassed by the calyx. Seeds rather large, from dirty yellow to black-cloudy, very smooth, shining, immarginate, slightly compressed ovate. The basal strophiole altogether cupular.

Species etsi habitu adeo aliena et hoc respectu V. geminatae jam aliquotenus adveniens locum tamen juxta V. reniformem in systemate tenet. Rhizoma saltem breviter prorepens et fibras sat elongatas emittens. Caules non articulati. Petioli bi- v. paucipollicares. Folia pollice saepius breviora quam longiora. Venarum rami ultimi in areolis liberi. Bracteolae lanceolatae, bi- v. paucilineares. Calyx florens 2"', fructificans 3"' longus, basi tubulosus, et hinc conspicue cum capsula concretus. Corolla calycem semisuperans; lobi truncato-alati. Filamenta brevissima, juxta corollae basim sita. Antherae circiter ½"' longae. Capsula inferne tenera, superne firma. Semina ¾"' longa. Strophiola pallida, depresso-semiglobosa. A species even if in habit so foreign, in this respect somewhat approaching V. geminata, in systematics nevertheless it holds a place next to V. reniformis. Rhizome at least shortly extending, emitting elongate fibers. Stems not jointed. Petioles two to few inches [5-10 cm]. Leaves 1 in [2.5 cm], more often shorter than longer. The final branches of veins free in open areas. Bracteoles lanceolate, two to few lines [4-10 mm]. Calyx 2 lin [4 mm] long when flowering, 3 lin [6 mm] when fruiting, with a tubular base, and here conspicuously fused with the capsule. Corolla exceeding the calyx by half; lobes truncate-winged. Filaments very short, situated next to the base of the corolla. Anthers about 0.5 lin [1 mm] long. Capsule delicate below, firm above. Seeds 0.8 lin [1.6 mm] long. Strophiole pale, compressed-semiglobose.
