Herba aquatica gracilis interdum stolonifera, foliis parvis orbiculatis. Flores ca. 15-18 mm in diametro, corolla lutea lobis villosis, glandibus hypogyniis 5 ciliatis, ovario parvo cylindrico carpellis 2. Flos brevistylus staminibus 5 longe exsertis filamento 2 mm longo, anthera 1.9 mm longa, pistillo in totum 4.5 mm long, stylo summum 1 mm longo, stigmatibus parvis. Flos longistylus staminibus 5 filamento brevissimo, anthera 1.2 mm longa, pistillo in totum 9 mm longo, stylo 4 mm longo stigmatibus magnis exsertis 3 mm longis. Fructus ovoideus calyce brevior, seminibus paucis parvis cellulis epidermalibus parietibus sinuosis.

Slender, aquatic herb, sometimes stoloniferous, with small, orbicular leaves. Flowers around 15-18 mm in diameter. Corolla yellow with villous lobes. Hypogynous glands five, ciliate. Ovary small, cylindrical, with two carpels. Brevistyle flower with five longly-exserted stamens, filament 2 mm long, anther 1.9 mm long, pistil 4.5 mm long in total, style 1 mm long, stigmas small. Longistyle flower with five stamens, filament very short, anther 1.2 mm long, pistil 9 mm long in total, style 4 mm long, stigmas large, exserted, 3 mm long. Fruit ovoid, shorter than the calyx, with few, small seeds, with sinuous epidermal walls.

Affined to N. milnei A. Raynal, principally distinguished by larger flowers, pedicellate staminodes, larger stigmas in the longistyle flower, fruit enclosed in the calyx, walls of epidermal cells of the seeds sinuous.
