    Corolla hirsuta margine crenata, nectariis 5 ramosis discoloribus, stigmate bifido. Hab. in Cochinchina. Corolla hirsute, with a crenate margine. Nectaries five, branched, discolored. Stigma bifid. Found in Cochinchina [southern Vietnam].

    Foliis cordatis integerrimis, floribus axillaribus congestis nectariferis. Leaves cordate, entire. Flowers axillary, congested, nectariferous.
    Media inter Hydrophyllum et Menyanthem; (ob nectaria majori jure Hydrophyllum Willd.) Caulis filiformis, repens; folia glabra, petiolata, sparsa, pauca; flos albus pedunculo longo; cor. campanulato, patens, hirsuta, limbo quinquefido, crenato, nectariis 5 ramosis, discoloribus, basi laciniarum adhaerentibus. Stigma bifidum; caps. ovata, unilocularis, polysperma, calyce persistente cincta. In aquosis Cochinchinae*. In the middle between Hydrophyllum and Menyanthes; (on account of the larger nectary [jure] Hydrophyllum Willd.) Stems filiform, creeping. Leaves glabrous, petiolate, sparse, few. Flower white with a long peduncle. Corolla campanulate, open, hirsute, the limb five-parted, crenate, with five branched nectaries adhering to the base of the lobes. Stigma bifid. Capsule ovate, unilocular, many-seeded, surrounded by the persistent calyx. In waters of Cochinchina [southern Vietnam]*.
    *Obs. Hujus forsan generis: Tserja Cit Ambel Rheede Mal. XI. t. 29, cujus descriptio sequens: folia caulis radix conveniunt cum Cit-Ambel (l. c. t. 27.) flores parvi, simplices, pentapetali, oblongo-rotundi, stelliformes, interius in singulorum petalorum medio foliosa lacinia secundum longitudinem alati, in orificio capillis flavis. Stamina 5 brevia inter petalorum interstitia, apicibus surrectis, albicantibus, staminulis 5 brevioribus interpositis, cum quibus ex medio orificio globulus viridis, cuspidatus, styli ad instar. Calyx pentaphyllus, foliis florum petalis decussatim interponuntur. Rheede l. c. *Obs. Perhaps of this kind: Tserja Cit Ambel Rheede Mal. XI. t. 29, whose description follows: Leaves, stem, [and] roots come together with Cit-Ambel (l. c. t. 27.). Flowers small, simple, five-petaled, oblong-rotund, stelliform, winged along their length within in the middle of the single petals with foliose lobes, with yellow hairs in the opening. Stamens five, short, between the interstices of the petals, with [surrectis] apices, whitish, interposed with five rather short staminodes, with which out of the middle of the opening a green globule, cuspidate, at the [instar] of the style. Calyx five-leaved, with the leaves of the flowers interposed with the petals decussately. Rheede l. c.

    Differ. spec. Men. foliis cordatis, integerrimis: floribus axillaribus, congestis, nectariferis.
    Hab; et notae. Planta palustris: caule filiformi, repente. Folia cordata, integerrima, glabra, petiolata, sparsa, pauca. Flos albus, axillaris, congestus, pedunculis longis. Corolla campanulato-patens, hirsuta: limbo 5-fido, crenato: nectariis 5, ramosis, discoloribus, basi laciniarum adhaerentibus. Stigma 2-fidum. Capsula ovata, 1-locularis, polysperma, calyce persistente cincta.
    Differs from other species of Menyanthes with cordate, entire leaves: flowers axillary, congested, nectariferous.
    Habit and notes. Marsh plant: stem filiform, creeping. Leaves cordate, quite entire, glabrous, petioled, sparse, few. Flower white, axillary, congested, with long peduncles. Corolla open-campanulate, hirsute: limb 5-parted, crenate: nectaries 5, branched, discolored, adhering to the base of the lobes. Stigma 2-parted. Capsule ovate, unilocular, many-seeded, surrounded by a persistent calyx.
    Observ. Haec planta media est inter Hydrophyllum, et Menyanthem: et ista quidem duo genera parum inter se differunt.
    Habitat spontanea loca aquosa Cochinchinae.
    Observations. This plant is in the middle between Hydrophyllum and Menyanthes: indeed, these two genera differ too little from each other.
    Inhabits spontaneous watery places of Cochinchina [southern Vietnam].
