Obs.

Obs. I would be extremely tempted to believe, with Willdenow (Sp. I, 311), that Linné confused two plants under the name of Menyanthes Indica; one true Villarsia Indica with yellow flowers, illustrated by Rumph (Amb. VI, p. 173, T. 72. [ ]), and later by Curtis (Bot. Mag. 658); the other, Hum[bo]ltiana, with white flowers illustrated by Rheede (Mal. XI. [ p. ] 55, F. 28.). I must point out however that the leaves illustrated by Rheede are much larger than leaves of my many samples and that which Monseuiers de Humboldt and Bonpland reported.
