Annua. Lamina folii natans, 15-40 x 14-45 mm, plus minusve
rotunda (nonnunquam late-ovata) profunde cordata. Inflorescentia breviter elongata pedicellis geminatis unoquoque nodo vel condensatis; internodia brevia, ad 1-8 mm longa. Flores 5-partiti, non nisi homostylosi (=mediostylosi) iam cogniti. Corolla c. 16-25 mm diam. aurantio-lutea; lobae alis latis valde laciniatis atque basi fimbria transversali imperfecta praeditae papillarum gracillum in uno centrali fasciculo et duobus fasciculis lateralibus dispositarum; unusquisque fasciculus plerumque in basi prominente; tubus quinque fasciculis pilorum c. 10-12 brevium tenuium simplicium liberorum intra faucem praeditus. Capsula oblonga, c. 3.5-4.3 x 2.0-2.25 mm. Semina 1-4, plerumque 2 (duobus superpositis) per capsulam plus minusve globosa et modice utrinque compressa, 1.9-2.4 x 1.75-2.3 x 1.55-1.85 mm, sculpta per caespites dispersos tuberculorum longorum obtusorum eminentes super planum parietum cellularum convexorum (nonnunquam caespites eminentes desunt); caruncula basalis, semi-circularis, pallida, parva, inconspicua.

Annual. Leaf lamina floating, 15-40 x 14-45 mm, more or less round (sometimes broad-ovate), deeply cordate. Inflorescence shortly elongate, with paired pedicels at each node or condensed; internodes short, to 1-8 mm long. Flowers five-parted, not known now to be other than homostylous (=mediostylous). Corolla c. 16-25 mm in diameter, golden-yellow; lobes with broad wings, strongly laciniate and furnished with imperfect, transverse fringe at the base of slender papillae in one central fascicle and of disposed papillae in two lateral fascicles. Each fascicle on a prominent base; the tube is furnished with five fascicles of around 10-12 short, thin, simple, free hairs within the throat. Capsule oblong, around 3.5-4.3 x 2.0-2.25 mm. Seeds 1-4, mostly 2 (with the two superposed) per capsule, more or less globose and each moderately compressed, 1.9-2.4 x 1.75-2.3 x 1.55-1.85 mm, formed through dispersed tufts of long, obtuse tubercles emanating above the plane of the convex cellular walls (never are the emanating tufts absent). Caruncle basal, semi-circular, pale, small, inconspicuous.

Ab alis luteofloralibus speciebus, "geminatae gregis", et per ordinationem fimbriae in corolla, et per magnitudinem formamque seminorum, et per sculpturam seminorum, et per capsulam plerumque 2-seminalem distincta est.
|
From other yellow-flowered species of the "geminata group", and per the ordering of fimbriae in the corolla, and per the magnitude and form of the seeds, and per the sculpture of the seeds, and per the capsule mostly 2-seeded, it is distinct.
