Limnanthemum brevipedicellatum Vatke
- Vatke, . 1876. Labiatas a d. Dr. W. Peters in itinere mossambiciensi collectas in opere klotzschiano omissas enumerat. Linnaea: ein Journal für die Botanik in ihrem ganzen Umfange 40:220.
Foliis late cordato-orbiculatis utrinque secus medianam asperiusculis sparse pedicellisque glanduloso-punctatis obsolete palmatinerviis, nervis subtus prominentibus, calycis segmentis ovato-lanceolatis capsulam subaequantibus, corolla ....., [sic] seminibus compresso-globosis obtuse carinatis opacis minutissime punctato-foveolatis. Leaves broadly cordate-orbiculate, each [secus medianam], sparsely roughened, and with glandulose-punctate pedicels, barely palmately veined, the veins prominent beneath. Calyx segments ovate-lanceolate, less than equal to the capsule in length. Corolla ... [sic]. Seeds compressed-globose, obtusely keeled, opaque, minutely punctate-foveolate.
A L. forbesiano Griseb. foliis multo majoribus, pedicellis brevioribus, seminibus compressis differt, a L. orbiculato Griseb. mihi ignoto seminibus carinatis non vero ut in L. nilotico Kotschy et Peyritsch pl. Tinn. 28 t. IX! muricatis; folia adulta ultra 1 dm. longa, ad 1 dm. lata; pedicelli fructiferi 1 cm. longi fere omnes fertiles subaequilongi. Differs from L. forbesianum Griseb. in having much larger leaves, shorter pedicels, compressed seeds. Differs from L. orbiculatum Griseb. (a species unknown to me) in having keeled seeds, truly not muricate as in L. niloticum Kotsch. & Peyr. (Pl. Tinn. 28 t. IX!). Adult leaves up to 1 dm long, to 1 dm broad. Fruit-bearing pedicels 1 cm long, all fertile leaves about equal.
Typus: In lacu Zana prope Galamotseh 9 nov. 1863 fr. (n. 1358.) Type: In Lake Zana near Galamotseh. 9 Nov 1863 fr. (n. 1358).
