NOTE:  The "colorful commentary" about Torrey's long, speckled history of fires, falling ceilings, exploding water pipes, etc., has been stricken from the Wikipedia page.  Conspiracy theorists believe that it was members of the University of Connecticut administration that edited the page in order to whitewash UConn's image.  Given the unflattering portrait of the building and its decades of neglect painted by the original Wikipedia content, this is, perhaps, not surprising, however dishonest.  I guess we'll never know the truth.  Nevertheless, the faculty members who had their libraries and research destroyed by one or another building failure are unlikely to forget.
