I am interested in the developmental and molecular genetic aspects of morphological evolution ("evo-devo"). Mechanisms of appendage development in the flour beetle genus Tribolium and the milkweed bug Oncopeltus have provided my study systems. Broadly, I'm also interested in gene regulation and genetic network structure, as well as insect morphological diversity, particularly in Heteroptera and Coleoptera.
