Chien in the lab.
  • Currently I am a junior attending UConn and am double majoring in two departments in Biological Sciences: EEB and MCB. At the beginning of summer 2007, I began research in the lab of Dr. Lewis where my primary objective was to gain an understanding of molecular analysis in algae by extracting and evaluating DNA. The techniques used in lab consisted of DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing.

  • The overall experience in biology has sparked my interest in microorganisms and evolution, both of which I will further continue studying.
