EEB 200
Course Content
This course takes a comprehensive look at the biology of fishes:
· What principles govern how fishes function in the natural environment?
· What has been the evolutionary history of fishes?
· What factors determine the distribution and abundance of fish species?
Organization
The course consists
of lecture sections, discussion, and lab.
Detailed information on the lectures and discussions can be found on the
Lecture Schedule page, while details on the labs can be found on the Lab Information
page.
·
Lectures take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. Lecture
notes will be posted on the website in advance of each lecture.
On average, a bit less than one chapter of reading from the text is assigned
for each lecture, but the reading is not evenly distributed across lectures so
some days there is more reading and some days less.
Two midterm exams are scheduled on Mondays.
· Fridays will be devoted to discussion sections, problem solving, and the like. The structure of these will vary, but they will all involve working together in groups and will all involve the readings you did in the textbook. You will submit work based on these discussions for grading.
·
Lab takes place on Thursdays.
